
Kabul – September, 2026; Following the approval from its Board of Directors, the Microfinance Investment and Support Facility for Afghanistan (MISFA signed a financing agreement amounting to AFN 56 million with Lamen, a newly established microfinance institution.
This Qard Hasan marks the second facility of its kind provided to Lamen. The first facility totaling AFN 24 million was provided to Lamen in December 2025.
The funding will help Lamen expand its Sharia-Compliant financing portfolio by increasing the numbers of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) that can access financing. It is also intended to contribute to improving its Operating Self-Sufficiency (OSS) ratio.
Established in November 2024, Lamen received an operating license from Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) to provide microfinance in March 2025. The institution currently operates across three provinces through a network of five branches. Lamen serves 368 active financing clients with an outstanding portfolio of AFN 43.14 million.
MISFA is now supporting ten MFIs/Banks (OXUS-A, Mutahid, FMFB-AF, Ghazanfar Bank, Momin Afghan, Lamen, Shahy Khazana, Aurum, Hassel and the Islamic Bank of Afghanistan).
