MISFA Signs a Financing Agreement with Momin Afghan

Kabul, October 06, 2026 – The Microfinance Investment and Support Facility for Afghanistan (MISFA) signed a Mudaraba agreement with Momin Afghan Microfinance Institution (MAMI) amounting to AFN 100 million for a period of 24 months.

This agreement marks the third financing facility provided by MISFA to MAMI. The two institutions signed a Qard Hasan facility worth AFN 80 million on July 24,2025 and a Mudaraba agreement amounting to AFN 100 million on June 06, 2026.

The new financing will help MAMI expand its Sharia-Compliant financing portfolio by increasing the numbers of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) that can access financing.

To ensure compliance with MISFA’s financing policy and exposure cap limits, MAMI is required to proportionately increase its financing portfolio from sources other than MISFA. Under MISFA’s financing policy, partner institutions must ensure that a minimum of 10 -30 percent (depending on portfolio size) of their gross outstanding financing portfolio is financed from sources other than MISFA such as shareholders’ capital or financing secured from other investors.

Founded in November 2024, MAMI operates through five branches across two provinces.  MAMI serves 1,348 active financing clients and has an outstanding portfolio of AFN 133.6 million.

MISFA is now supporting ten MFIs/Banks (OXUS-A, Mutahid, FMFB-AF, Ghazanfar Bank, MAMI, Lamen, Shahy Khazana, Aurum, Hassel and the Islamic Bank of Afghanistan).
